The Internship Programme Commencement Ceremony for the 30MW Solar Photovoltaics Power Plant (SPVPP) Project was held yesterday, marking a key milestone in advancing Brunei Darussalam’s renewable energy workforce development.

The ceremony was attended by the Directors of Seri Suria Power (B) Sdn Bhd, Director of from Serikandi Solarvest Sdn Bhd, representatives from Institut Pendidikan Teknikal Brunei (IBTE) and Politeknik Brunei, reflecting strong collaboration between industry and educational institutions.

Yang Mulia Puan Shirley Sikun, Head of Energy Transition Division, Department of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in her opening remarks said that this initiative is aligned with Brunei Darussalam’s national SCALE (Skills and Capacity for Alternative Low Carbon Energy) initiative, the programme supports future readiness by equipping local talent with practical, industry-based experience in practice. Through this initiative, four interns will be attached to the 30MW SPVPP project for a period of 5 months, gaining hands-on exposure while contributing to real project delivery.

This commencement ceremony underscores a shared commitment to developing a skilled, future-ready workforce while supporting the nation’s long-term low-carbon and sustainability goals.
