In conjunction with World Standards Day, a forum titled “Standards Driving MSMEs: Building Stronger Businesses for Wawasan 2035” was held at the Auditorium Hall, Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

Our Director, Shaikh Ahmed Khairi, was invited as one of the panel speakers, representing Serikandi Group of Companies, to share the organisation’s 50-year journey — from a homegrown catering company in 1974 to a diversified group spanning hospitality, engineering, energy, agriculture, and healthcare.

He highlighted how standards and compliance have been central to Serikandi’s growth over the decades, ensuring consistency, safety, credibility, and value throughout its journey. Standards, he noted, should not apply only to specific departments but must be embraced organisation-wide — including management — to nurture accountability and operational excellence.

He reminded participants that standards are not limitations — instead, they build credibility, earn client trust, and gain the confidence of the global market. They open doors to broader opportunities and continuously improve people and processes.

In closing, he encouraged MSMEs to align their growth journey with Wawasan Brunei 2035, embracing standards as enablers of innovation and sustainable development.
